On 3 March 2013, the 18th edition of Mifur, The international Fur and Leather Fair will be hosted in halls 14 and 18 of the Rho Fiera Milano fairgrounds. In addition to more than 200 exhibitors, hailing both from Italy and abroad, the fair is also slated to be attended by members of 14 trade publications. This year’s edition will feature four thematic areas: B.box, Crossover, Glam Av. and K.Point.
B.box will present the world of garments in leather, techno-fabrics with trimmings and feathers in which fur is re-engineered and mixed with other materials, for a young, sophisticated prêt-à-porter. Crossover, featuring several of the industry's largest fur companies and their new collections will focus on quality, painstaking attention to detail and respect for traditions. Glam Av will embrace companies registered with the Chamber of Fashion who will focus on research, new styles and the moods of the forthcoming 2013/2014 autumn/winter season. K.Point is the heart of the fair where it all begins: skins, accessories, buttons, styles, machinery and tanning techniques. Nature and synthetics, tradition and the future in a dialogue that searches for new equilibriums for the trends for the forthcoming winter which features three key themes for the 2013/2014 winter season. New Naturalist: to counterbalance the frenetic rhythm of modern-day living, a trend that pays tribute to the earth and which is deep-rooted in the harmonious balance of the world of nature. Nature as a reference point in the search for a healthy, conscious, balanced lifestyle. Modern Vintage: the evolution of last year's Ladylike Kitsch, inspired by couture houses of the 1940s and 1950s, the evolution and the break-away stemming from the New Look collection designed by Christian Dior in 1947 which celebrated femininity with flared skirts and narrow waists. Galactic: is inspired by a futuristic world which fuses history and culture, creating a new hybrid fashion, a galactic warrior princess. Echoes of cult movies including Star Wars and Blade Runner and, at the same time, inspiration in the more natural forms of modernism evoked by the work Antoni Gaudì.
Not only an exhibition but also events: at 8.30pm, at the end of the first day of the exhibition, namely 3 march 2013, Milan’s Palazzo Serbelloni (via Melegari, 3) will host the 2013/2014 collections of Italian Fur Fashion Night, the fashion show featuring “Made-in-Italy” brands; a stunning event to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the AIP (the Italian Fur Association) and a tribute to Italian designer fur labels recognized throughout the world. The catwalk will showcase collections by designers of the calibre of Gianfranco Ferrè Furs, Byte Giuliana Teso, De Carlis, Fabio Gavazzi, Malamatì Marconi, Manoel Cova By Jun, Maurizio Braschi, Pajaro and Rindi. Ever-aware and active in the world of young designers, as is customary each year, on 4 March, Mifur will also stage the final gala evening of REMIX at Palazzo Serbelloni, via Melegari, 3 - at 8.30pm. The international contest dedicated to up-and-coming designers organized by IFTF – International Fur Trade Federation – in collaboration with Mifur, which will see young designers from all over the world showcasing their creativity.
